Castle Rock Trail is a 1.6 mile out and back trail located near Big Bear Lake, California that features a great forest setting. The easy version of this hike is an hour, about a two-mile hike over the mostly flat ground, not much altitude gain. This trail offers spectacular views of the lake and an opportunity to see pines, white fir trees and cedars.

The hike starts around 7,600 feet and you can get sunburnt quicker at these altitudes so high SPF sunscreen is a must. Please note outdoor activities carry risks, and you may be exposed to dangerous situations as part of this experience. Take the trail to the left at the split if you want to head to Bluff Lake, unlike what we did, which was go to the right and end up in a wash somewhere. The parking lot for the trail allows you to either choose this trail or take a 1 1/4 mile hike to Castle Rock for great views of the lake. Parents may also bring children under 2 years of age.

Couldn’t complete the loop due to mud/marsh. Hope to go back there again since Amber said it is beautiful as well to hike there during winter time where there's snow.
